About the event

TOPIC 1 – DIGITAL AND A.I.

“The battleground of the future is digital, and AI is the undisputed weapon of choice.”

William Dixon and Nicole Eagan, “3 ways AI will change the nature of cyber attacks,” World Economic Forum, June 19, 2019.

Whether we realize it or not, artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) play a part in every second of our lives. From the moment we wake, smart devices decide what time to turn on our heaters and our lights, social media uses complex algorithms to select what news to promote to us, and Google Maps navigates us through our day. Even while we sleep, AI monitors our sleeping patterns—with the proliferation of smart devices like Google Home and Apple Watches—identifying when we have had a good night’s sleep and even monitoring our health.

Speaker – Simon Bray, Cloud and Alliances Manager, Fortinet

Simon is the Cloud and Alliances Manager driving successful outcomes for Customers, Partners, Cloud Providers and Alliances. Simon started from a strong technical background and became the “go to” consultant for disaster recovery solutions with customers including Virgin Airlines. During his career, Simon has worked for 12 years in an advisory capacity for large Enterprise and Government such as Department of Defence, ATO, and Telstra. As the Cyber Threat Landscape grew and the attack surface increased Simon saw that prevention rather than cure was where he needed to focus his efforts. Simon now works to help protect businesses from the ever changing landscape of modern cyber threats.
